Easter half term is coming.
And with it… that quiet pressure.
You start to see it everywhere:
- activity ideas
- day trips
- “things to do with the kids” lists
- perfectly planned weeks
And suddenly it feels like you should be doing more
But here’s the truth
You do not need to fill every day.
You do not need:
- expensive trips
- back-to-back plans
- a fully booked schedule
And your children do not need it either.
The moments they remember
It is not always the big days out.
Sometimes it is:
- staying in pyjamas a bit longer
- watching a film together
- baking something that goes slightly wrong
- sitting in the garden with snacks
The small, ordinary moments.
Strawberry Reporter says…
Half term is not a performance.
It is not something to “get right”.
It is just time.
And sometimes the best thing you can give your kids is a bit of calm.
The pressure is real
Especially when:
- money is tight
- energy is low
- life is already busy
Trying to do everything can quickly turn into stress instead of enjoyment
A gentler approach
Instead of planning every day, try:
- one or two “bigger” plans
- and leaving space in between
Space for:
- rest
- boredom (yes, even that)
- slowing down
Final thought
You are not failing your kids by staying home.
You are not “doing less”.
You are just doing it differently.
And sometimes… that is exactly what they need.
Strawberry Reporter note
If you needed a sign to take the pressure off this half term…
This is it.
