Community Noticeboard

Welcome to the Tiptree Times Community Noticeboard — a space for local residents to share useful notices, requests and information with the wider community.

Think of it as the digital version of the board you might find in the village shop or community hall.

Here you can post things like:

• Lost or found pets and items• Lost or found pets and items
• Local services (babysitting, gardening, tutoring etc.)
• Items for sale or free to collect locally
• Community requests or volunteers needed
• Club announcements or people looking to join local groups
• Special and/or Milestone Birthdays for residents

If it’s something the community might find useful to know — this is the place for it.

Please note that events such as fairs, performances and community gatherings should be submitted to our Events page instead.

Most notices will remain on the board for around 30 days to keep things current.

Today we’re celebrating a very special member of our community — Heather Hatton, who turns 78 years young today.

Originally from Walthamstow via Sittingbourne, Maghull and East Hanningfield, Heather finally made her way to Tolleshunt Knights in 1983, and we’re very glad she did.

Many in the village will remember Heather from her time as a part-time shop assistant in Gwen Pantney’s shop at the Brook Road/D’arcy Road junction — a place full of local stories in itself.

Over the years, Heather has been a true pillar of the community. From collecting for the lottery at Tolleshunt Knights and Eagles FC, to guiding young minds as a Sunday School teacher, youth leader, and Church Elder at Tiptree United Reformed Church – her contribution has touched countless lives.

And perhaps most importantly of all, she raised two children (who arrived with her from Liverpool) into independent, successful adults and parents – something she can be incredibly proud of.

These days, Heather might “hobble a bit” ( we’re told!), but she remains the same kind, community-spirited person she’s always been.

From all of us here , and we’re sure many across the village, we wish Heather a very happy birthday and thank her for everything she’s given to the community. 💛

We are TTT

The Tiptree Times is a small, independent local new site with a slightly unusual newsroom.

Inspired by Tiptree’s long-standing connection to jam-making, our fruit-inspired characters were created as a playful nod to the place we call home. Each one brings their own perspective — from on-the-ground reporting and weather updates to sports analysis and carefully considered reviews.

We love to cover news and events from Tiptree and the surrounding areas, alongside stories a little further afield when they matter to our community. Whether it’s a council update, a local event, or something unexpected, we aim to keep people informed, engaged, and occasionally entertained.

Behind the characters, there are real people — writers, creators, and locals — who care about telling these stories and sharing what’s happening around us.

It’s local news, just with a little more character.
