About us:

An independent local news website has launched to cover stories from Tiptree and the surrounding villages.

The Tiptree Times aims to provide regular updates on community news, parish council decisions, local events, businesses and issues affecting residents.

The new site hopes to fill a gap by focusing our pens on the village and its community, amongst other things.

Founder and reporter Sam Jaques said the aim is to create a space where residents can stay informed about what is happening locally, amongst other things.

“Tiptree has a vibrant community and a lot going on, but many of those stories don’t always reach a wider audience,” she said.
“The aim of The Tiptree Times is simply to share local news and highlight the people, groups and events that make the village what it is.”

Residents are encouraged to get in touch with story ideas, community announcements, event information, or to ‘Ask Avery’ – our weekly advice column tackling life’s dilemmas with honesty, common sense and compassion.

We are a very small team, so it might take us a beat to send responses.

The site will continue to publish new stories as they arise.

Strawberry Reporter covers local news for TTT News. He specialises in being first on the scene, often before it’s entirely clear what the scene is.

Equipped with a microphone, a notepad, and a strong sense that something important is probably happening, he reports on events as they unfold — occasionally contributing to the unfolding in the process.

We are TTT

The Tiptree Times is a small, independent local new site with a slightly unusual newsroom.

Inspired by Tiptree’s long-standing connection to jam-making, our fruit-inspired characters were created as a playful nod to the place we call home. Each one brings their own perspective — from on-the-ground reporting and weather updates to sports analysis and carefully considered reviews.

We love to cover news and events from Tiptree and the surrounding areas, alongside stories a little further afield when they matter to our community. Whether it’s a council update, a local event, or something unexpected, we aim to keep people informed, engaged, and occasionally entertained.

Behind the characters, there are real people — writers, creators, and locals — who care about telling these stories and sharing what’s happening around us.

It’s local news, just with a little more character.
